Being a "Kid" at heart

Tonight I had the pleasure of the company of my Hubby while we both joined a "chorus" of little children, some tall, some small, some even above my own head. We were all there watching the movie SCROOGE. The movie was fantastic for animation. Jim Carrey, I give you thumbs up. This movie is scarry, loving, funny, and a little bit nostalgic for me. The first Scrooge movie I watch my own children were little. We watched Alister Sims as Scrooge. I'm not sure if this original movie will ever by upstaged, but the 2009 version comes pretty close in my opinion.

So all you tall adults out there let your little child out and go to the movies. I don't think you will be disappointed. BTW the 3D is animation, not the kind you need special viewing glasses.

Thanksgiving in USA

Hi everyone. I just thought I'd like to spend a wee bit of time being thankful. On Thurs Nov 26 my American friends will all be celebrating their Thanksgiving Day. I notice more and more when I take reservation calls at work that families are coming together for a reunion. This started me thinking of all the way I can be thankful for all that I have. Last night I talked to some Military Personal (6 in total) who were booking rooms so they could have a shower and clean up before meeting their families for the holiday, and then returning to battle fields far away. I felt as much excitement for them as the lady on the phone did when an airport employee came for them instead of booking a room, there would be showers, privacy and a homey place for them to go (with no fees to boot) to clean up, and rest a bit. The gratitude in my guest's voice reached out over the phone to me. Before I ended the call, I wished her and her companions a warm welcome home.

Later in the night I was thinking of her again. All our Canadian and American Soldiers put their lives on the line every day for the rest of us. I remembered the thankfulness in her voice for the offer of room, warmth, and showers. Makes one think doesn't it?

Nov 14 almost 1/2 through the month

So fall here in Ontario is drawing to a closing. The leaves are gone from the trees around the neighbourhood and instead we see piles and piles of bagged leaves ready to be taken away to the compost site for city people. Wow...where have the colours gone in these leaves. Made me remember canoe trips in my past "outdoor girl" days.
This picture was take up in the far nothern parts of Ontario. Around the area of Perry Sound (Killarney Park) on a bright hiking trail that I tramped through. In those days I spent a lot of time looking up asking God for answers to life's mystery questions. Where am I going, What am I here for, What does tomorrow hold....Whoa!!! Stop there. Tomorrow, what about today, what about this gift of glory that is right up above my head in the cathederal that is up above me. The place where God has done his own type of art work? Why not just stay in the moment and take a picture of the beautiful day that God has give me. So here it is, almost 10 years later, and again I'm walking through past memories, and found this treasure.
Yes the leaves are piled high all around the city, but in my own photo album this glorious display will never fade or go away.
Memories of a beauty on the path less trodden. This a memory from the day when I left only a smile behind in nature, and a happy memory to carry with me into the rest of my days.
God bless all, may we find our own treasures and reminders that God is there, we are never alone.

Today a tribute to special ladies who are teachers

I have been busy destroying and rebuilding and then construction on this blog. What fun it is to change things around and learn as I go. Thanks so much to Chris in LFA group who originally got my blog under construction. Chris to you I say......great work taking us all by the hand (two times now) and helping us share our creative talents with all our friends. To this I also add my thanks to Shirley who has been such an inspiration and guide to everyone who is part of the "Learning Fabric Arts" group. Shirley believed that in this life time it is the greatest gift of all to reach out to others and bring them together where we could all learn to share and give.

Thanks to both people for their love and inspiration to others like myself in this world who want to learn and grow.

All the best to both ladies. To all the members in LFA GROUP thanks for being part of my life.....now to Julie who has become Shirley's right hand....may the sharing of the lamp of learning keep your heart warm also from the glow that others send you when we thank you for being there and helping others come into the glow of knowledge.

Thank you

Gift from a Friend

Her name is Ms Meaford because like myself she was born in that far northern village, now grown into a town. A friend from work visited there this summer and I was so exicted when I heard that someone other than myself in this whole city I live in now has been to Meaford, Ont.

Brenda brought her home and gave her to me this past week. What a charming gift to look at when I've just experienced a rude, or nasty customer on the phone......these little gifts from the heart bring smiles to my face each time.

You can't see much, but this Ms Meaford symbol is even wearing red drop earrings.....this is so me. I love beads, buttons and other decorative items......so when the day is grey, just look at her and smile.

Weekend without saying

This is the most beautiful weekend this fall. I believe that this weekend will be a memory to get us through the coming white days ahead. Somehow there is a cozy feeling about getting all the lawn ornaments, statutes, etc all put away now instead of when it is cold, windy, rainy outside.

Now for getting the Christmas lights up and ready for the great shine time that is coming just around the corner. Looking in our neighbourhood there is such a hive of activity as others are doing the same thing. People are beginning to think alike I see. No more frozen fingers. Put them up now and then with just a flick of the switch the festivities can begin......and it really isn't all that far away now.

BTW this was the photo from DECO DAY 2008....wonder what this year's project will look like? Probably the same....who knows
